EDUCATE Prize Nominations Announced
The shortlisted nominations for each Category of the EDUCATE Prize are:Category 1: Hanging Hive; SOsMALIA; RAWlab, The Concrete Orchard & Copra Production Facility; The Mother.Category 2: PLA:/LIVE Project; Sustain Up-Building India; The Ark: Continuous Productive Urban Landscape Market. Category 3: Landscape Interpretations/Ecological Explorations, Low Cost Alternative Sustainable Systems; MovieSTAR (Sustainable Thinking in Architecture); The passive cooling system from tradition to innovation: wind Towers. Nominated entries will compete for the award of one of the three prizes for each Category (1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize) or will receive an Honorary Mention. The EDUCATE Prize Award Ceremony will take place in Rome (Italy), at the Casa dell 'Architettura, on Thursday the 23rd February 2012. EDUCATE Prize Deadline for Registration Extended
Due to a significant number of requests, the deadline for registration of academic members of staff and submission of questions to the EDUCATE Prize International Student Award has been extended to the 8th December 2011. To date, more than 100 registrations from academic institutions external to the EDUCATE consortium have been received. To register to the EDUCATE Prize on behalf of students, academic members of staff are required to send a Registration Form - available on http://www.educate-sustainability.eu/prize - to educate.prize@educate-sustainability.eu Registration is required for digital upload of entries to the EDUCATE Prize. The deadline for submission of entries to the EDUCATE Prize is the 9th of December 2011, 5pm (CET). 2011-07-14

EDUCATE Symposium in Budapest
An EDUCATE Symposium will be held in Budapest, at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, on the 12th January 2010. The event will be freely open to academics, building professionals, representatives of institutions, regulatory bodies, industry, students and the general public. The Symposium will feature key-note presentations by internationally renowned architects and experts in the field of environmental design and will lead to the definition of an agenda for sustainable architectural education in academic curricula and professional practice. A detailed programme of the event will be circulated soon.

The summary, presentations and pictures from the first EDUCATE Educational Workshop, held in Nottingham on the 8th July 2009, are now available for consultation and download.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP
The first open EDUCATE Educational Workshop was held in Nottingham at the School of the Built Environment.
At the workshop, the project partners, the members of the advisory board (Peter Clegg, principal of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios; Mario Cucinella, principal of MC Architects; John Pringle, Principal of Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects), representatives of European Chambers of Architects and a panel of invited speakers discussed principles and practices for the effective implementation of themes of sustainability and climate change within architectural education and the profession.
Key-note speakers included Paula Cadima (ERC-European Research Council Programme Officer and Director of PLEA) and Bill Gething (FCB Studios, RIBA President Sustainability Advisor).
